Set of must-know knife fighting technics
"Knife fight" is as vague as "gymnastics". What do you do gymnastics for? Do you want more muscles? Or maybe, you want to become more flexible? Or is it all about workout to improve your heart condition? You need to know what you want, so to speak.
Same with the knife fight. Do you want to impress your friends? To defend your family against bad guys? Are you a soldier and you want to learn to take down an enemy - in a fast and silent way? Depending on your objective, you will need different skills.
And yet, there are things common for all martial schools when it comes to knife. Things that are ether related to basics that are truly common, or technics that are good enough for every school to adopt them.
In this book you will find such basic concepts, things that are more or less universal. If you know them, you can confidently defend yourself in a generalized "spherical horse in a vacuum" situation. It is a "must know", but it does not make you Chuck Norris. Not yet.
The book is organized as set of lessons, rather than as a reference guide. Every lesson is composed of the set of exercises, starting from simple ones and up to a complex issues as details and variations are added to cover a particular subject. If you go through these lessons, performing exercises until you are comfortable with them, you will get a solid background in knife fighting, but let me repeat: it is not a complete reference guide to everything knife-related. Reference guides are useless if you want to learn or at least I never seen one that is better than a textbook.
Think of this book as of a tutorial covering a one-year-long-twice-a-week class containing a set of skills that you must know, no mater what style you practice.
When people come to Wing Chun Kunfu from other martial arts schools, they are usually deeply confused. This strange looking style can easily find holes in what you had considered a solid technique of yours before.
Also, Wing Chun is a violent attacking style. If you are looking for a spiritual experience, you have probably came to the wrong place. This is the style that was created for combat, and with the only objective in mind.
To win.
Introduction to Kyokushin Karate
Kyokushinkai (Kyokushin, Kyokushin-budo karate) is recognized world-wise as one of the most powerful and efficient styles. It's techniques are simple, with all unnecessary "extras" removed.
The style is based on the ancient philosophy that goes far beyond the fight, it is more of a life style than just a combat technique. As you study Kyokushinkai, you will become stronger, both physically and mentally.
Unlike some modern schools, that are low-contact and competition-oriented, Kyokushinkai is a BUDO karate ("combat", as opposed to "art"), and its students are fighters in the best sence of this word.
Tai Chi is the "moving" Chi Gun technique, the dynamic meditation and a martial art in the same time. When done regularly, it is known to produce dramatic changes in people's health, both physical and mental, making them more balanced, self-confident and happy. And yes, it is also a powerful fighting technique.
